Did you know Dallas Tx has some of the best asian food? I know technically Plano, Carrollton, and Frisco isn't Dallas but its close enough that you're only driving 20-30 minutes. Dallas is home to some of the best Japanese and Korean I've ever had and amongst other things they have a lot of variety and competition compared to Austin. Here is a list of eats I recommend in the Dallas / Greater Dallas area.
Mr. Max
Mr. Max is a must if you ever visit the Dallas Area. It seems out of the way but it’s well worth it. There are no reservations. Make sure to get there right when they open because there’s usually a line forming before they open. They serve japanese izakaya food and small eats. They don’t specifically serve sushi but they serve sashimi and their fish is fresh. I would say that the must order dishes are their whole mackerel, the curry, the ramen, and their takoyaki.

Wu Wei Din
Wu Wei Din is a spot that we recently tried in the plano area. They serve chinese and taiwanese food. We were told that they have some of the best xiao long bao in dallas. We also made sure to order the popcorn chicken and their beef noodle soup as well as their pan fried bao. Overall the dumplings here are something to talk about. I wouldn’t say they are the best in the world, but its worth the drive to try authentic chinese/ taiwanese food.

Good Times Donut
Good Times Donuts is a mochi donut spot located inside Mitsuwa market. They switch around their flavors daily but usually our favorite flavors are the strawberry, matcha and black sesame. This last time we visited our favorite flavor was actually the yuzu. I would say that they have the best mochi donuts that I have ever tried.

HaidiLao
HaiDiLao is a hot pot spot located in frisco texas. We recently stopped by after a lot of recommendations from instagram. This spot is a famous franchise that serves authentic chinese hot pot. You can have up to 4 broths of your choosing and you order all your meats, vegetables and add-ins through the ipad. We chose to order the spicy pork broth, the spicy broth, the classic pork broth and the tomato broth. For the meats we ordered the shrimp, beef tripe, beef belly, short rib and kurabuta pork shoulder. We also ordered a side of beef balls and dancing noodles. For veggies we kept it simple and ordered daisy crown and napa cabbage. I would say that the best broths were the tomato broth and the spicy pork. The daisy crown was extra amazing in the tomato broth. Our favorite meats were the beef belly and the short rib. We were a huge fan of the make your own sauce bar. When you come here you need to order the dancing noodles, basically they dance in front of you while hand pulling the noodles. We recommend making a reservation in advance online. View the Reel Here

Doma
Doma Sulungtang is a place we saw on Strictly Dumplings youtube channel. We decided to try this spot because we were feeling a bit full from the day before. They specialize in Sulungtang which is a type of beef bone broth soup. We ordered the ox tail soup and their number 1 classic Yangji Soup. The food here came with a side of banchan (korean side dishes) and your choice of purple or white rice. I would say that the experience was pretty authentic and the food was delicious.

Kurobuta
Kurobuta is a spot that serves katsu in Carrolton Tx. They pride themselves in making their own bread crumbs and using kurobuta pork. Personally I think this is the best katsu spot in texas that I had because of the fresh bread crumbs. This spot had some katsu’s that were better than the ones I had in japan. We highly recommend trying out their cheese katsu and their regular pork katsu.

Somi Somi
Somi Somi is a spot that sells Korean taiyaki ice cream. There are different options for soft serve and you can choose different stuffings for the taiyaki as well. The soft serve options seem to change pretty often as well. You can also choose to add toppings. We highly recommend this taiyaki ice cream spot over the other spots in Texas.
